HSP’s 2012 Celebration of Companionship Calendar Model Search

  The Humane Society of Pinellas is searching for its 2012 calendar models. Starting Sun., May 1st, you can enter the contest online at: http://www.mulabula.com/humanepinellas/

The $10 entry fee for the photo contest will guarantee your pet’s photo to be included in the calendar somewhere. This year we will choose the featured calendar models based on the most votes from the photo contest. HSP’s fashion show winners (five from the show at Countryside Mall on 4/30) will be in the calendar and others will be based on the most votes generated.

It's that time of year to talk about Swimming Pool safety issues. Because of the beautiful weather in our Sunshine State, swimming in Florida occurs year round. Teens and children are at the greatest risk for drowning, specifically, children under 5 and adolescents between 15 and 24 years of age.

And how do you protect a brain when riding a bike? By wearing a helmet! Besides automobiles, bicycles are linked to more childhood injuries than any other consumer product. Almost 700 children are injured daily due to bicycle related crashes.

The Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation headquartered in New Port Richey is one of three state sponsored Sertoma programs.  Besides grants and revenues from fundraisers, local Sertoma clubs throughout Florida also support the organizations.  The mission of the Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation of Florida is to provide quality developmental and rehabilitative services, products and education throughout Florida, in a caring and compassionate environment, never limited by a client’s ability to  pay.

Recruitment for HSP’s summer teen (16 – 18 yr olds) team begins in May! HSP is looking for responsible teens who are interested in assisting animal caretaker staff in the adoptable cat area with one position remaining in adoptable dogs and medical or assisting in the adoption center. Program is geared toward Bright Futures or other academic-based volunteer hour accumulation needs. Summer team selection information sessions set for May 12th or 14th.
